# February 2024 Release

## Onboard practices quickly with the new Developer Portal

We’re proud to introduce the new [NexHealth Developer Portal](https://developers.nexhealth.com/) for Synchronizer API users. The Portal simplifies the way you onboard practices that will sync with your app via the NexHealth Synchronizer.

API users now have the power to:

* Instantly create new Institutions
* Initiate Synchronizer installation
* Request access to Institutions with an existing sync
* And more!

*"We love the new Developer Portal. We can get the Synchronizer installed, configured, and live in about 15 minutes, compared to a day or two with the legacy process."* - Christian Farley, Integrations Lead, Swell

Active users with a production API key received an email invitation last week to create a Portal login.

Check out our [new guide](https://docs.nexhealth.com/docs/using-the-nexhealth-developer-portal) for more information on how to create Institutions and syncs, install the Synchronizer, add users, and more.

**Beginning on February 15th, onboarding for all future Institutions and syncs will need to be done through the Portal.**

We’ll keep you updated on new features and functionality coming to the Portal soon. We look forward to seeing how the Developer Portal accelerates your growth with practices and patients.

## Synchronizer API product updates

**The Synchronizer API now returns procedures from Dentrix, Dentrix Enterprise and Open Dental**

You can now read [Procedures](https://docs.nexhealth.com/reference/procedures) from Dentrix, Dentrix Enterprise and Open Dental. Previously, you would use the [appointment\_descriptors](https://docs.nexhealth.com/reference/getappointmentsidappointmentdescriptors) endpoint to return procedure codes associated with specific appointments. Now, you can use the `include\[]=procedures` parameter on the [appointments](https://docs.nexhealth.com/reference/getappointments) endpoint like in the following example:`/appointments/{id}?include\[]=procedures. `

Given that the procedure provides information on past and future treatments–including if a treatment is planned but not yet scheduled–and can inform anything from billing to follow-up treatment, we recommend using the procedures parameter for a more comprehensive read of the appointment.

We’re continuing to work on expanding support for procedures, so please let us know if you have feedback.

**Faster appointment inserts for Eaglesoft practices**

The Synchronizer now auto-refreshes the Eaglesoft view layer to improve appointment insertion speed. Short-notice appointments in the next day or week now load faster for practice staff.
