Payment ledger integration for Open Dental

In July we released our first payment ledger endpoint, /procedures that allows you to view services provided for a patient. This endpoint is live only for Open Dental practices, but is our first step towards exposing a more comprehensive picture of practice financials.

Our procedures resource comes with fee and status fields allowing you to understand if the procedure has been completed and how much a patient was charged for it. You can see the procedures associated with a specific patient or appointment by adding “include[]=procedures” to the request params for calls to /appointments or /patients.

Over the coming months, we’ll be rolling out more support for payments ledger in additional health record systems and adding related resources like charges and payments.

Integration Functionality Improvements

We now support reading Holidays in our Open Dental integration which should improve the accuracy of our scheduling functionality.

We’ve improved the consistency of our integrations reading procedures codes in Dentrix Ascend and made all cloud based syncs more stable.
