Before you start
- NexHealth reads financial data from the health record system only on request. To turn it on for your API key, email [email protected]. Sandbox locations have it on.
- Every request needs a bearer token from
POST /authenticates. See Authentication. - Requests take the practice's
subdomainand, for most endpoints, alocation_id. See Institutions, syncs, and locations.
Overview
Fee schedules are the prices a practice charges for procedures. They set the amount that appears on a patient's ledger when the practice adds a procedure. Practices usually have several fee schedules: a default cash schedule, and one for each insurance provider they work with.
Each procedure in the health record system can have one or more fee schedule entries. Each entry gives the cost of that procedure under one fee schedule. When the practice creates a charge, the system looks up the procedure code and the fee schedule that applies to find the amount.
Example use cases
-
Use the fee schedules endpoint to get procedure prices before you submit a treatment plan. This gives patients accurate cost estimates up front.
-
Use fee schedule data to calculate how expected patient costs differ by insurance plan and membership plan.
